Giving constructive criticism makes it easier to identify areas where a more thorough explanation or development could enhance the value of the comparison between the two boys. The lack of a father figure is an important part in the decisions and lives of both Wes Moores in Wes Moore's story The Other Wes Moore. The book shows how young people may find it more difficult to find purpose, self-control, and hope when an ongoing presence is absent. Even though I have a father of my own, reading about the hardships of both Wes Moores made it easier for me to understand the difficulties experienced by people without fathers and how those difficulties might affect a person's course in life.      In the story, Wes Moore, the author, loses his father at an early age.
