Parenting - TOWM

Image
Nicko Cevallos One of the most important things in a person's life is their parenting. It has an impact on how kids see the world, deal with difficulties, and grow who they are.  Providing food and shelter is simply one aspect of parenting, and other aspects include responsibility, love, direction, discipline, and emotional support. Children are more likely to make wise choices when their parents are involved and provide structure. Lack of structure might make it difficult for kids to find their way. Wes Moore effectively shows this in The Other Wes Moore by describing how two boys of the same name who grew up in comparable circumstances had entirely different outcomes according to the upbringing they received. This comparison demonstrates how important parenting is in determining future opportunities, behavior, and general life attitude. Wes Moore, the author, grew up with a mother who encouraged him to succeed all the time. Even when he disobeyed her rules, she demanded res...

Theme: Constructive criticism - story of TOWM

Image
Nicko Cevallos       The Other Wes Moore's chapters 4-6 show an important moment in the lives of both Wes Moores, proving how their choices start impacting the futures they will ultimately encounter. There are a few places where the storytelling may be improved, even though these chapters take part and highlight key themes like opportunity, responsibility, and the environment. Giving constructive criticism makes it easier to identify areas where a more thorough explanation or development could enhance the value of the comparison between the two boys. We can gain a better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of these chapters by examining character development, narrative transitions, context, and supporting characters.      The two Wes balanced character development is one area that needs work. The author goes into great detail on his own emotional difficulties, including his actions at school, his disagreement with his mother, and the te...

The Challenges of Growing up Without a Father in TOWM

Nicko Cevallos       A person's entire life might be shaped by growing up without a parent. Someone may feel lost, unguided, and eager to learn things the hard way as a result. The lack of a father figure is an important part in the decisions and lives of both Wes Moores in Wes Moore's story The Other Wes Moore. The book shows how young people may find it more difficult to find purpose, self-control, and hope when an ongoing presence is absent. Even though I have a father of my own, reading about the hardships of both Wes Moores made it easier for me to understand the difficulties experienced by people without fathers and how those difficulties might affect a person's course in life.      In the story, Wes Moore, the author, loses his father at an early age. His family was surprised and devastated by his father's unexpected and sudden death, which was brought on by a medical error. Wes's life was impacted by his father's absence even if he didn'...
